The actor was found dead in Paradise Cay in his residence on 11th August 2014. The investigators found him in his bedroom with a belt around his neck and found cuts on his left wrist and believed it to be suicide. Later with the autopsy report, it was confirmed to be suicide.

So the main question that comes to mind is why did Robin Williams kill himself? What could be the reason? Let’s look more into it,

How did Robin Williams Die?

If we look at the time of his death, the 63 years old was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, which causes a nervous system disorder that ultimately leads to mood swings and depression. He got to know about it three months prior to his death in August and he only informed his wife and children and kept it a secret from the public.

He and his wife Susan Schneider Williams were even planning to go for neurological testing but the day never came. Another truth associated with his death was another kind of a mental disease called Lewy body dementia, which was only able to be found during the autopsy. It is another part of Parkinson’s and has similar causes associated with the brain which affect one’s thinking, movements, mood swing, and hallucinations, ultimately causing abnormality in behaviors in the long run.

To this Williams’s widow, Mrs. Williams said,

“It was not depression that killed Robin. Depression was one of let’s call it 50 symptoms and it was a small one”, She told People.

Robin Williams, even before his new mental symptoms, had already been through a phase of anxiety and depression during the 1970s and 80s. He was addicted to cocaine but after the death of his close friend, he quit which later led him to depression.

Then again in the later phase of the 2000s, he was addicted to alcoholism and substance abuse which increased his anxiety and depression leading to more nervous problems.

Mrs. Williams continues that the doctors and the teams were doing everything they can in their powers.

“It’s just that this disease was faster than us and bigger than us. We would have gotten there eventually”, she said.

To this date, everyone was confused and yet not much clear about the cause of death of the beloved superstar, but what we know is depression and all other mental issues caused him to end his own life. But we will never know what causes him all the depression and anxiety that pushes him to kill himself.

His family and friends who were unaware of his condition and couldn’t do much, want others to know more about these mental conditions and be aware of it so they can help their beloved one fight back against this hideous disease that kills one from inside.
