Mama June born June Edith Shannon is popularly known as Mama June from the Shannon family, the matriarch and the head of the family. In 2011, Mama June along with her youngest daughter Alana Thompson aka Honey Boo Boo, 5 at the time debuted in the reality show Toddlers & Tiaras.

The mother-daughter duo soon rises to fame with the show and they even have a special spin-off Here Comes Honey Boo Boo in addition to the main show. Then the duo soon became popular and now Mama June has her own show featuring her family, Mama June: From Not To Hot, which first started airing in 2017. The show has now had a total five-season running and has removed the line “From Not To Hot” completely since the fourth season.

Mama June and Alana Thompson’s First Debut with “Toddlers & Tiaras”

Toddlers & Tiaras is an American television series that first premiered in January 2009 on the TLC network. The show depicts the personal life of the contestant of the Child Beauty Peasant that comes from different walks of life to compete with one another and win the competition.

The show apart from the actual competition episode also presents the daily lives of the contestants during the time of the contest. The Shannon family’s Mama June and Alana were first introduced in this show and this show opened the door to the Shannon family’s reality show world.

The mother-daughter duo first appears in the episode Precious Moments Peasants which was originally filmed in 2011 but aired in January 2012. Alana soon became viewers’ favorite for her cheerful and fun personality and gained a growing number of fans. The mother-daughter pair became regular on the show.

“Here Comes Honey Boo Boo”

The spin-off of the Toddlers & Tiaras series features the child peasant contestant Alana Thompson’s family and her everyday family situations. Alana started to be known as Honey Boo Boo by the fans from Toddlers & Tiaras.

The show named after Alana was being referred to as a Honey Boo Boo Child by her fans because of sweeping misinterpretation and the show ran from 2012 to 2014.

Mama June: From Not To Hot   

The spin-off of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and the show presents Mama June’s weight loss journey from 460 to 160 pounds. The show also features the daily life happenings and events of the Shannon family and its members.

The show first aired in February 2017 and has a total of five seasons. The fifth season that is running presently is Mama June: The Road To Redemption shows Mama June and her family’s life crisis to how they recover from it.

What did Mama June Do? Why did Mama June Go to Jail?

On March 13, 2019, Mama June along with her boyfriend Eugene Geno Doak was arrested in Alabama. Police informed that Mama June was arrested and charged with possession of an abused substance and drugs paraphernalia. Geno along with felony possession and drug paraphernalia faced additional charges on suspicion of domestic violence and harassment. Then in the month of October, they both pleaded not guilty.

This has also led to Mama June’s daughters Pumpkin aka Lauryn Efird and Honey Boo Boo aka Alana showing their displeasure with her actions.

Pumpkin said “She is a piece of sh…” and that she doesn’t understand her actions affect all of them.

On the other hand, Honey Boo Boo aka Alana Thompson said

“I don’t even know who is she anymore.”

Where is Mama June Now in 2022? When is She Coming Back?

June after going through a hard time and battling drug addiction has now reunited with all her daughter and family. The reality show star who was arrested with his long-term boyfriend Geno Doak for possession of drugs back in 2019, has already called off their relationship.

After her break up with Geno, June seems to have found herself a new love Justin Stroud, a 34-year-old tattoo artist, and the couple seems to be getting along well in their relationship as the two have been seen strolling together holding hands in California.

The popular Honey Boo Boo from Here Comes Honey Boo Boo is now 16 and now a part of her mother’s reality show Mama June: The Road To Redemption while attending high school and hoping to become a neonatal nurse. Presently she is living with her older sister Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird who has given her legal custody of her. She is also working on improving her relationship with her mother.
